Alvar Aalto for Artek Cart "900" in Birch and Tile, Finland 1970s

About the Item

The 900 trolley, designed by Alvar Aalto for Artek, is a classic Finnish design with English tea culture and Japanese woodwork and architecture as its sources of inspiration. Alvar Aalto created the trolley for the 1937 Paris International Exhibition. The 900 cart consists of a curved birch frame, large veneer wheels, a handmade rattan basket, and a ceramic surface on the top. Aalto designed the 900 cart for domestic use, and we also find this cart in the living room of Villa Mairea, one of the villas designed by Alvar Aalto, located in Finland.
