American Edwardian Mahogany Plant Stand in the George III Style by Beacon Hill

About the Item

This vintage single mahogany plant stand was made circa 1920 by the Kaplan Furniture Company for the Beach Hill collect which is fully labeled and numbered. This company was founded by Issac Kaplan in 1905 in Cambridge Mass. After he had emigrated from Russia by way of England. His firm quickly became a leader in quality furniture production. The firm produced furniture in large orders for the United States Government and had a pavilion at the 1939 words fair and closed its doors in 1972. The stand is in carved and turned mahogany. Consisting of a carved and shaped top with a lovely simple rolled carved edge resting on a slender pole with turned rings set concave and then carved rings in a convex fashion heading a baluster shaped lower section resting on a carved waisting spiraled urn terminating in splayed legs with simple pad feet. The finish is rich and with nice rub thru showing a lovely patination to the wood and has been newly french polished... the top is 8.50 by 8.50.
