PAIR Massachusetts Federal Card Tables

About

An intricately detailed matched pair of American Hepplewhite manner fold-over swing legged game tables. Each opens flat to a serpentine 35 x 36 inch bowed four sided top. Meticulously fine satinwood and ebony inlays, contrasting veneer bandings, and 'birdseye' veneered friezes embellish the pair. Both swing leg apron panels are stenciled PHILLIPS in black paint. Former owner paper labels "Barbara P. Baker" and "Mrs. W. Baker" also remain. Uncommon for two tables of this age to have survived as an original pair; they appear to have been made in Salem or Boston, in the late 18th century.
