Italian 18th Century Louis XVI Period Country Walnut Square Center Table

About the Item

A most elegant Italian 18th century Louis XVI period Walnut center/dining table. The square table is raised by beautiful slender square tapered legs with fine mottled feet, top caps, and decorated with a lovely delicate inlaid fillet also repeated at the straight apron. The top displays exceptional inlaid geometric bands with a central star all framed within an elegant border. All original rich patina throughout.

    18th century, Italian Louis XV wood center table This elegant and refined center cabinet was made in Turin around the mid-18th century. Characteristic of the high Piedmontese cabinet making, for this piece of furniture, a veneer was chosen with the particular wood, applied on the piece of furniture with a sophisticated game of mirrors and patterns of the wood grain. The furniture has a shaped and wavy top, and the wooden essence creates a chromatic game called "a occhio di pernice" (partridge eye). On the front it consists of two drawers and a compartment protected by two doors. The opening system of the doors is sliding, very rare and difficult to achieve. The mouthpieces of the locks are in chiseled bronze and gold, as well as the tips of the four legs that are arched and graceful, typical of the Baroque. This cabinet is perfect for any room and can also be exposed in the center of a room thanks to its finish on all four sides. It is also suitable alongside modern and antique furniture.
