Minimalist and Elegant Eugenio Escudero Round Center Table from the 1960s

About the Item

Minimalistic and elegant round table designed by Eugenio Escudero in the 1960s signed "D'Escudero". Organically shaped base in form of a cross in red cedarwood with the original dark dye finish. Cylindrical polished brass attachments to legs and two brass rods crossing each other for stability. A glass top bigger than the base "floats" on four supports protruding from the crossed base. Eugenio Escudero was born in Spain and emigrated to Mexico around the 1930s (as thousands of his countrymen fleeing Civil War), where he found excellent craftsmen that were able to give form to his innumerable original and daring designs oriented to middle and upper-class customers looking for original and nonrepeatable pieces. Rumor has it that this extraordinary designer had some 60 different interior design projects in one single year, giving each one of them unique solutions. For this reason, his furniture consists in most cases of unique pieces.
