About the Item
The Wilton coffee table in walnut and a contrasting figured and cerused "pippy" English elm top measures 36" diameter x 18"h. The design features a round shelf also in cerused "pippy" English elm echoing the shape of the top.
The outward canted legs are tapered downward giving the form a visual lift form while creating a dynamic stance. The heavyish bottom rails serve to anchor piece while the curved edge profile of the legs leads the eye top the center toward the lower shelf. Each element is selected, shaped, joined and finished so as to create a unified design.

Black Creek Designs LLC
Since 1992 Thomas Throop/ Black Creek Designs llc has specialized in designing and building one of a kind furniture. Satisfying clients with unique and inspired designs made to the highest level of craftsmanship with the finest woods available. Each piece tells the story of a collaboration between design, process and material. Working closely with his clients, a dynamic dialog ensures an exceptional outcome. In addition to having pieces purchased for significant public and private collections, Throop has won numerous awards for his furniture. He has exhibited widely in galleries and in over 100 juried exhibitions in the US and England, contributed to several books and has been featured in many prominent magazines. The exploration of contrast and balance has been a constant in my work for over 30 years. My desire to create both subtle detailing and bold statements adds to the richness of the designs. Classical training in England gave me the appreciation for the importance of craftsmanship and transcendent beauty of wood in all its variation. More importantly it has given me a basis to engage in the process of designing and making furniture that has an interplay of form and function from the simple to the complex.

The Laguna series tables are some of my favorite and most challenging to build. Each base is unique as the process and resulting form is ultimately sculptural. The 1/2" thick tempered glass top is supported by a base made of walnut consisting of tapering arcs of varying size which intersect to form a dynamic structure.
