White Ash 36" Coffee Table with Blackened Steel Feature Leg by Hinterland Design
About the Item
This 36" round Canadian white ash coffee table with featured blackened steel leg is inspired by the sun’s apparent orbit around the earth, the table legs exposed on the top surface create a celestial composition.
The table top is made out of solid Canadian white ash which is then whitewashed and oiled with beeswax. It features a 6" blackened steel leg alongside 3 additional solid wood legs. Hinterland Design's "Ecliptic Table" is also available in American black walnut, and as a larger 48" round coffee table and a smaller 24" round side table, all of which are 14" high. The legs are customizable be either copper or brass plated, powder coated steel, or one-of-a-kind glazed ceramic (+$1150). See Hinterland Design's other 1stdibs listings for other options.

Hinterland Design
Hinterland Design is a studio that creates unique work for people to use, enjoy and cherish. Each piece is hand made, to order, designed and produced in our Vancouver, Canada studio. We are artists, woodworkers and craftspeople who build using natural materials. Drawing on twenty years’ experience, we believe in and stand behind our techniques, designs and finished products. To us, materials are at the heart of what we make. They provide the initial inspiration for the design, and also provide the user with an innate and ongoing connection to the natural world. We care about where we source, prizing local and healthy materials. And we care about how we treat those materials through the building process. Our environment shapes the work we do. Everything we make has a story. It starts with the materials, is shaped by the design and build, then develops through the many hands that use it throughout its lifetime. Designing and making unique objects that we are proud of, that are good for the earth and good for the people that use them is at the core of our practice.
