Large Rare Canadian Mid-Century Biomorphic, Triple Stepped Coffee Table

This fabulous, large and very rare Canadian Mid-Century biomorphic two-tone coffee table was produced in the early 50's by custom furniture designers and cabinet makers,The Bernard Winterton Company of Toronto. It bears the company's distinctive green and gold foil label to the underside and is a testament to the quality of the company's cabinetry. The surface is stepped (in a similar fashion to T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings iconic Mesa table for Widdicomb) in three levels that are alternately finished in a black lacquer and a deep ox blood stain.But, unlike the Widdicomb Mesa, Winterton's table stands on a black lacquered base constructed of a pair of geometric legs that are linked by a fluidly carved serpentine strut.This table is without doubt one of the best looking and most distinctive pieces that Decollect has ever offered. It is in very good vintage condition with only some slight losses to the finish.
