1950s Mathieu Mategot Style French White Perforated Metal Umbrella Stand/Holder
About the Item
A vintage Mid-Century Modern umbrella stand in the style of Mathieu Matégot, circa 1950. Whimsically shaped to reflect the form of an Umbrella combined with a delicately curved "shepherd's staff" styled handle completed by a solid brass ball accent. Matégot's signature use of perforated metal / wire mesh to create his forms never fails to turn heads, even today.

- Condition:Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. The overall condition is good. There is some minor chipping to the enamel in places & evidence of a little rusting where the handle attaches to the frame & to the base of the stand. It has also been repainted in some places over it's life.
