About the Item

The Pinocchio is also available in a high coffee table style for custom order. Cristiana Giopato and Christopher Coombes have been working together for about 6 years. Their collaboration develops in a continuous dialogue of aesthetic and cultural reasons, accompanied by an evolution of functional and production methods. The goal is the realization of projects that are not reduced to compromise, but which unite these two foundations by rising above each single element. In 2004 they began their first research project, with the guidance and encouragement of George Sowden, for whom Christopher worked for three years. This project sees Christopher leading 30 emerging international designers in the organization of the "In Dust We Trust" exhibition which leads to the formation of the Industrial Company. The same year they met Vittorio Livi who commissioned them the first Industrial Design project. It is "Jonker", a hexagonal table for Fiam Italia. Another important figure in their training is Patricia Urquiola, at whose studio Cristiana worked for three years and who in 2006 selected them to participate in the 'Invitation Section' of the Promosedia competition, a project that gives them the opportunity to work under the leadership of MarCo Romanelli, as well as a monographic exhibition at the Orlandi space. In 2007 they were selected by Andrea Branzi and Silvana Annicchiarico to participate in the New Italian Design exhibition, which will lead to the creation of further collaborations with La Triennale Di Milano, including the 'Prime Cup'. In 2010, on the occasion of the uncovered exhibition, they presented the "Tomahawk" lamp, subsequently produced in a limited edition in collaboration with the "Dilmos" gallery, and the "Alfred" armchair. Today Cristiana Giopato and Christopher Coombes operate in two key sectors: mass production, where Industrial and market realities are always present, and the creation of new realities by examining the foundations of our industry and searching for new possibilities within a particular creative-productive process. They actively collaborate with Glass Idromassaggi, Fiam Italia, Livit by Fiam, Miniforms, Novamobili, Dilmos, Rossana Orlandi, La Triennale di Milano and Industrial. Their work has been published in magazines around the world, including the ""New York Times"" (exhibition In Dust We Trust), "Interni" Korea (monograph), "Il Sole 24 Ore" Italy (Mermaid chair), " Interni "Italy (Uncovered exhibition),"Icon" UK (Abutilao lamp),"Glamor" Italy (Bird on a wire lamp),"Elle Decor" Italy (Gypsy table),"AD"Russia (Jonker table) and in books "The International Design Yearbook 2007" (Patricia Uquiola, Jennifer Hudson), "D Come Design" (Anty Pansera, Luisa Bocchietto) and "Material Thoughts" (Bramston David). • Mastea Low Coffee Table in Murano Glass and Walnut Base, by Matteo Zorzenoni
    By Miniforms, Matteo Zorzenoni
    Located in Brooklyn, NY
This low coffee and side-table comes with a base and top in Canaletto walnut, natural ash, ash stained black, intense blue or anthracite. The structure's body is made out of blown Murano glass, available in amber, blue-grey or smoke grey. Here you are shown the Mastea coffee table in the Canaletto walnut base finish and in the low size. Matteo Zorzenoni started to experiment with Murano glass in the 1970s and, even if the generations have changed, the glass is blown as it once was: it needs a master glassblower and two strong lungs. Working with this material every day is like revisiting a traditional dish. The ingredients are the same but there is something new in the taste. Matteo Zorzenoni's research is mainly focused on materials and their limits, aimed at discovering their potential. His projects have been exhibited at: Maxxi Museum in Rome, the Biennale of Art and Design in St. Etienne, the London Design Festival, the Venice Biennale. Matteo Zorzenoni was a professor at the IUAV in Venice, collaborates with the IED in Madrid and hosted a laboratory for Domaine de Boisbuchet (Vitra Design Museum). After a collaboration with Fabrica, Benetton Communication Research Center, he started a new project with Jaime Hayon, which is still on going. His research in the craft sector continues with projects for customers, including Cappellini, Mercedes Benz, Replay, Alcantara, Bosa Ceramiche...
