Sculptural Gilt Bronze & Glass Coffee Table by Fred Brouard, France, 1970s

About the Item

A rare and exceptional coffee table by French sculptor Fred Brouard (1944–1999), crafted in France during the 1970s. Brouard was a French sculptor who made both functional sculptures like this table and free-standing sculptures — and this piece is a perfect embodiment of that philosophy: furniture as art. Brouard opened his own workshop in 1973 and began a collaboration with interior designer Emilio Maccioni, for whom he created some of his most unique functional pieces in bronze. The base of this table is a masterclass in organic abstraction — its fluid, branching forms evoking both natural forces and sculptural freedom. A thick rectangular plate glass top floats above the gilded bronze structure, allowing the sculpture beneath to remain fully visible from every angle. Brouard's work is today held in the collection of the National Fund for Contemporary Art in France, and his pieces grace private collections and homes around the world. A signed and numbered work of this caliber is a rare opportunity for collectors and interior designers seeking a truly museum-worthy centerpiece.
