A Zoomorphic ART-DECO NEOCLASSICAL Wrought Iron COFFEE TABLE, France 1930
About the Item
An elegant, sensual and zoomorphic coffee table or low console, Art Deco, Modernist, Neo-Classical, superb thin and massive wrought iron animalistic structure (heavy) combining 4 stylized deer legs sculptures with an impressive movement effect, with a deep green marble rectangular top, to be attributed, France 1930s.
This is a rare example of French elegance of the 30's, combining a natural life inspiration with an intuitive sensuality, in the manner of Diego Giacometti, simple and/but luxurious materials without any shinny effect : the real luxury.
The bases of these four animalistic legs are subtly sculpted, creating a beautiful and dynamic three-dimensional effect, moving up to end with a stylized classical decor at their top, holding the marble top, simply holding on the base with its heavy weight, framed over a slightly offset iron border. While a wrought iron twirling wire connects and structures the whole sculpture as a base....
These thin details give this coffee table a strong and unique character, making it perfect for displaying a vase, a lamp, a decorative plate or just a tray...
The marble top is in great original condition, without break neither restauration of any kind. The top surface is showing some signs of use, surface rays and traces, which are quite invisible lost in the complex and beautiful patterns. The wrought iron structure is in great condition, with again surface signs of use, subtle wear and light rust areas which are giving this piece a spirit.
