About the Item

Large and spectacular, hand forged Art Deco side table with marble top. This amazing and all handcrafted side table from the heydays of the French Art Deco era is among the best pieces we ever had the pleasure of offering. It is this kind of top-quality design and execution that can only have been created by one of the top designers from the era. When it comes to this kind of museum quality, wrought iron pieces from the Art Deco era, the first name that comes to mind is Edgar Brandt. Unfortunately we don't have the documentation to verify this. Since there can only have been a handful of French designers (most likely Parisian) that were capable of creating this kind of quality and beauty, there may be Art Deco collectors and connoisseurs in Paris who do know who created this unique work of art. It does not matter if you look at this piece from closeby or from a distance, it is always staggering. The design with the fountain in the center and the abundance of wonderful flowers is simply exceptional. The blacksmith or specialized metal worker who took on this project must have been aware of the highest level of his skills, because getting a design like this on paper is one thing, but finding an artisan who can bring it to life is a Challenge that is equally difficult. If you look closely, both at the scale of this piece and also at all the details in each flower then creating this majestic Art Deco must have taken months rather than weeks. Mind you, we also have the matching and also sizeable wall mirror that goes with it (see image 20). That marvelous mirror (with a built-in light) will be on 1stdibs within days also. This set may have been used in the lobby of one of the top Parisian hotels, but it will look marvelous in any Art Deco (inspired) interior and you could not wish for a more grand work of art (deco).
