Wrought Iron Specimen Marble Topped Console Table
About the Item
This fine wrought iron wall mounted console table is made up from 18th century parts with early 20th century additions. The 18th-century middle section (see image 6) was probably part of a large wrought iron gate or architectural element and has been used as the focal point for the console with additions and ends added to form the table. An area that would have held a crest or gilded panel has now been filled with a marble plaque done in two colors of marble making a decorative shield. The top is made from the same marbles with a thick green border centered with a white marble center. The table was most likely done in Europe in the 20's and has been well used and shows that for many years it has been part of an outdoor setting, however, the table is just as beautiful as an indoor decorative object. The top has an old repair but is intact and ready to use. Both the marble and the wrought iron have great old surface and patina.
