Fine Regency Period Writing Table / Sofa Table in Figured Rosewood, Circa 1825

About the Item

A fine early 19th century George IV period writing table / sofa table, showing a richly figured rosewood frame featuring a gilt-tooled black/green leather top with an elevating reading platform, overtop a frieze fitted with three small drawers all with original & functioning locks, raised on twin flattened supports braced by a finely turned stretcher, terminating to cup-shaped feet with recessed brass castors. IMPORTANT NOTE: For all interested U.S. & Overseas clients, we are currently in the process of establishing a means to expedite the process of obtaining the necessary CITES export permit required to ship items constructed of rosewood, mahogany, satinwood and other protected exotic materials - whether in part or in whole, to both United States & overseas clients. That being said, at this point it may take upwards of several weeks or possibly months to obtain the necessary CITES Export permit.

    Replacements made: Exhibiting exceptional graining & colour overall, recently refinished with a fine french polish. The gilt tooled leather panels and the cup-shaped feet & castors have been replaced. Refinished.
