B Talbert for Gillows Aesthetic Movement Davenport with Central Carved Rosette

About the Item

Bruce J Talbert for Gillows of Lancaster. An Aesthetic Movement Davenport with a brass gallery to the back and an inkwell and pen compartment below, a recent leather to the lift up slope with a bank of four drawers to the right side and a slide to the left side and a central lower panel with a carved rosette within a carved square flanked by turned supports and extended front feet. This Davenport corresponds exactly to Talbert furniture designed for the Midland Grand Hotel at St Pancras made by Gillow. See Arts & Crafts furniture by John Andrews printed by the antique collectors club ISBN 1-85149-483-9 page 37 for a comparable sideboard.
