Italian Carved-Wood Desk W/Pullout Writing Shelf & Great Storage, 19th Century

About the Item

An Italian smaller-sized carved-wood desk, with pull-out writing shelf and storage, from the 19th century. This antique table from France features a rectangular top, approximately 3.75 feet in width, atop an apron which houses a slender pull-out shelf at front center with recessed baize (green felt type fabric), a pair of half drawers just beneath that, and each lower end having a single decoratively-raised panel door that opens to reveal open storage within. A carved ribbon trim embellishes each corner (in vertical fashion) of the apron. The table is presented upon four flute-carved and squared legs, which terminate into squared feet. The wood has a warmth from the nicely aged patina, and there are some cracks and minor losses, which add character and show of age to this charming piece. The leg clearance for this is approximately 23.5" from underside of skirt to floor. This 19th century French table would be a great option for a smaller-sized desk (without compromising storage!), or perhaps could function as a sweet dressing table, or console table.
