Monumental 17th Century Tuscan Walnut Refectory Table, Italian Baroque Period This monumental 17th-century rectangular refectory table is a magnificent and rare example of rustic Tuscan Baroque craftsmanship. Characterized by its impressive scale, the tabletop is constructed from four massive, solid walnut planks capped on either end with matching walnut cleated slabs. The three-meter-long surface boasts a rich, warm brown tone with exceptional wood grain figuration and a beautifully preserved original patina throughout. The long, narrow top rests on a sturdy trestle base composed of six massive turned baluster legs. These are joined by a low, simple molded stretcher running along either side, providing structural stability while maximizing legroom for comfortable dining. Designed in typical Tuscan fashion, this exceptional farm table features a clever, historic construction: two wooden pegs and thick tenon joints on each side allow the top to easily separate from the base for practical transportation.
