19th century French carved oak oval dining Hunt table Black Forest animal lodge ~Direct from France~ ~Majestic and substantial antique French “hunt” oval dining table~ ~Stunning hand carved details; one glance reveals the superior quality of the massive carvings (Possibly commissioned for an aristocratic hunting lodge, circa 1880, in the Black Forest region of Europe, where France, Germany, and Switzerland meet)~ ~Huge base is a carving masterpiece, with four different dimensional carved animals, including a fox, boar, hound, and ibex/chamois. Each animal has superb carved details; note the hair, the eyes, the legs, the shape of the bodies! Each animal is also posed upon a large carved scroll base having Black Forest carved foliage, fruit accents. Lovely craftsmanship and artistry!~ ~Large oval top, approx. 4 ft. x 4.5 ft. has carved beveled edge and wide apron~ ~Over sized, thick, turned and carved center baluster provides balance and support~ ~Very heavy, as it has all the original wood supports and even the additional legs to expand the table to a much larger size (often these parts are removed over the years, so it’s quite nice to find them intact. Extra leaves are not included)~ ~c1880~ Measurements 29” height x 54” x 47.5”. 25” leg clearance. Note: All of our antiques are direct from Europe.
