Michael Taylor for Baker Walnut Extension Dining Table Far East Collection

About the Item

A timelessly designed dining table that Michael Taylor did for Baker Furniture. This table starts out as a rectangle but with three impressive leaves it can extend to 122" (each leaf is 18" x 44"). The table has a slight chinoiserie feel (especially at the bottom of the table legs). It was part of the Far East Collection he did for Baker. It has small brass wheels at the bottom of the table legs that make it easier to extend the table. This table offers tremendous flexibility. It can seat 8 when closed or 12 when the leaves are added. Michael Taylor was one of Architectural Digest's Top 20 Designers of All Time. He is considered to be the father of the California look. He designed several furniture collections for Baker. This table is a great example of his unique design sensibility. The table would benefit from restoration. The top is sun faded. The leaves show some signs of previous water damage (see close up images) and some separation at the seams. You'll see the same table listed for $6500-$9000 when restored.
