The Morphic Side Tables These unique wood tables further emphasize the core aesthetic and technical concepts and principles of the Morphic Collection and highlight the progression of the idea of a sculptural piece of functional modern furniture by extending the sculpture to all four sides, eliminating a “wall” side. These flowing end tables seek to challenge conventional thought regarding placement of furniture in a space and aim to eliminate the wall as a design restriction. The Morphic bedside tables are designed to be viewed from all four sides as a truly unique piece of functional and sculptural furniture. Each contemporary end table is a unique form, they are not two of the same. Please look closely at the images to understand the attention to detail of the drawer connection. The darker plywood layers on the sides match up with the darker plywood layers on the front to create a continuous lines all around the top of each drawer. The aesthetic of The Morphic Collection is organic and amorphous but its purpose is to “destroy the box” in furniture that is almost always associated with a rigid and simple shape by dematerializing the sharp edges and sheer faces. The undulating lines, flowing waves, and tranquil curves designed for The Morphic Collection are seamlessly integrated into the original purpose of the piece without compromising function. Incorporation of carefully thought out hidden details and inconspicuous construction methods solidify the illusion of being one, single, sculptural form that conceals a function and is unobstructed by handles, knobs, or nonfunctional ornament. Materials: Baltic birch plywood, painted horizontal surfaces, stained and gloss polyurethaned vertical surfaces Features: Four sided sculpture. Hidden drawer pulls. Each Morphic bed side table is composed of four drawers which can be opened by pulling on any of the fins as they all act as drawer pulls. The Blum Tandem Plus Blumotion drawer hardware allows the draws to open and close gently and quietly, extending a full 9" when opened.
