About the Item
A beautiful and most decorative pair of Genovese 19th century Louis XV st. Walnut, Ormolu and Sienna marble commodes/end tables. Each wonderful two drawer chest is raised on elegant and slender cabriole legs with richly chased pierced foliate Ormolu sabots. The chests display outstanding and most decorative curvaceous shapes with exceptional quarter veneered Walnut designs extending throughout and showcasing the wonderful wood grain. Above the arbalest shaped frieze are the two drawers, each decorated with stunning masterfully inlaid interlocking foliate designs, while framed within panels with fillet borders. Each drawer is decorated by handsome pierced Ormolu handles and scrolled keyhole escutcheons. The sides are decorated in a similar manner and showcase wonderful central circular inlaid rosettes below the original and thick Sienna marble tops with fine mottled borders.
