Ray was an artist and designer, and Charles was an architect. In 1941, they moved to Los Angeles, where they opened their own furniture design business. They collaborated on a number of furniture designs, including the iconic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman (1956), the Aluminum Group (1958), and the Eames Fiberglass Chair (1948). They also worked on other designs, such as toys, textiles, and exhibitions. In addition to furniture design, they also produced short films, such as the iconic Powers of Ten (1977). They were pioneers in the fields of modern architecture and industrial design, and their work was highly influential.
