19th Century Sculptur Table Academy of Fine Arts Berlin Rotating Oak

About the Item

Rare sculptor's table or base for heavy objects, previously intended for marble and stone objects, a special statement due to the solid oak finish The plate of the object is mounted on an iron ball bearing and can be rotated very easily. The sculptor's table is also equipped with wheels. Very suitable as a single piece for the presentation of special art objects originally the object was in the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin.

    19th century carved parcel-gilt polychrome painted center table in the taste of Ancient Egypt, circa 1867-1870. The top of the table is an original black Belgian marble top. Supplied to Khedive Ismail Pacha for his Gezireh palace in Cairo, for the opening of the Suez Canal and commissioning the opera Aida by the composer Verdi . Until 1998 this table was located in Villa Draneht Pasha in Oggebbio at Lake Maggiore in Italy, when the Peter Zervudachi estate was liquidated. He was Paul Dranehts grandson, the first owner of the villa. During the 19th century, Draneht served under four Egyptian ottoman viceroys, starting with Muhammad Ali Pasha, who patronized him to study medicine in Paris. Paul Draneht became a very loyal servant to all Viceroys and they thanked him for his efforts with titles and properties.
