About the Item

Rene Drouet nesting tables, iron and bronze frames with original glass tops, circa 1950s, French. These tables have been gently cleaned respecting the vintage patina. These vintage tables are in the style of Rene Drouet. The hand-forged iron frames, bronze accents and the playful `light` design with sinusoidal curves are similar to the designs by Rene Drouet. Elegant in design and materials these tables are very practical. They would suit a range of interiors such as Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, Hollywood Glamour, Industrial or Contemporary. Structurally each table has a rectangular top. The edge of the rectangular frame is gold gilt on an undercoat of red; the result is an elegant warm tone. Inverted arches welded together make up the legs. The welded joints are finished with a decorate band of bronze toned foil. At the junction of the arches there are four bandings which create a cross-like pattern. The original glass tops have an elegant painted trim on the reverse side, in black with two parallel lines in gold leaf tone. The three glass surfaces sit inset within the rectangular frame. The frames are stable and in very good condition with all the bronze foil decorations intact. The glass tops are original and in good condition with only a few minor chips which have been restored on the back side of the glass. Minor small hairline in one corner of one of the glass tops. As the glass sits inset within the frame these cannot be seen. Full dimensions The large table has the following dimensions: Height 44 cm, width 51 cm, depth 38 cm. The middle table has the following dimensions: Height 40.5 cm, width 43 cm, depth 34 cm. The small table has the following dimensions: Height 36.5 cm, width 36 cm, depth 30 cm. Rene Drouet Biography - Rene Drouet (1899-1993) was an influential furniture designer at the height of the Art Deco movement in Paris. He was well skilled in iron work, pushing the boundaries of designs to offer a modern and`light` look.
