Art Deco tabletop display pedestal in Black Marble with dancer relief and white marble trim in the style of Demetre Chiparus (unsigned)
Demétre Chiparus was a Romanian sculptor who lived from 1886 to 1947. He is best known for his Art Deco sculptures, which were typically made of bronze, ivory, and other luxurious materials. Chiparus' works were influenced by his interest in Ancient Egyptian and Roman art, as well as by the exoticism of the Ballets Russes. He created sculptures of dancers, animals, and mythological figures, and his work was particularly popular in the 1920s and 1930s. Today, Chiparus' sculptures are highly sought after by collectors and can be found in museums around the world.
