Joint stool made in England in the late 1600s using oak. This is a beautiful, and old, small stool that shows great proportions and can still be used on a daily basis. The top consists of a single board with ogee edge, that has been repaired with an inset at some time in the past. The apron of the stool is decorated by a simple line carving and the top sits on four turned legs ending with block feet. The box stretcher connecting the legs is very simple and lacks decoration, however, some wear is present where feet have rested over the many years of use. The stool has a beautiful dark color, accentuated by small nicks and scratches that provide it with depth and character. Little english joint stools are fantastic, they were made to last and are just cute to look at, providing households with both a functional as well as pretty accent piece. Plus, if you have an old cat...
