French 17th Century Louis XIII Walnut Side Table with Bobbin Legs and Stretcher
About the Item
A French 17th century Louis XIII walnut side table with long drawer, bobbin turned legs, cross stretcher and original patina. Born during the second half of the 17th century, at the height of the reign of King Louis XIV, this table bears the stylistic traits of its predecessor King Louis XIII. The table is indeed adorned with a rectangular planked top with beveled molded edges, sitting above a simple apron, adorned with a long drawer. This single drawer opens thanks to a brass pull and is grooved on the sides for the runner. The overall simplicity of the top is beautifully balanced by the graceful silhouette of the four bobbin turned legs on which the table is raised, resting on bun feet. Creating a perfect visual conclusion to the ensemble and providing additional stability to the table, the legs are connected to one another through an eye-catching H-shaped cross stretcher. The table is delicately highlighted with black accents on the various moldings, that faded with time. With its lovely patina and elegant lines, this French 1680s Louis XIII style table will bring a refined touch to any décor, whether placed in a living room, bedroom or hallway.
