French 19th Century Pine & Oak Cheese Press Stand

About the Item

Very unique 19th century French table designed to drain and shape cheese into a wheel, circa 1840. Made of pine and oak, the rather primitive construction is what makes this piece so engaging and tactile for use as an unexpected side table. Aged to a dark patina, the wood reveals concentric rings in the shallow well of the circular top, dotted with small holes. Elevated on a tripod of three, roughly hewn legs. Gently cleaned with French paste wax to preserve the historic character. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition.
