Texture: Artfully hand-worked, very rough texture with multi-tonal layers of beige Material: Cementitious resin composite, glass fibre, safe synthetic pigments Weight: tbd Description: Brutal Scandinavian minimalism takes on aesthetic principles of classical antiquity at the hand of sculptor Laurie Poast of Norway. With spheres and curves and angles and proportions, chaos is put into order; unformed elements become form; and discordant things are arranged into mathematical and aesthetic harmony. The result is a sort of wabi sabi geometry in a Japandi style collection of furniture. This side table is functional but with an emphasis on the more playful elements of furniture design. The three heavy spheres are meant to be picked up and handled and serve as a sensory experience of heat or cold, weight, and smoothness. The three concave openings can hold jewelry and small personal accessories, small decorative collectibles, wrapped chocolates, or toiletries. This makes it quite suitable at the bedside or next to the sofa. It’s an impressive piece with a weight and construction that is substantial enough to feel like a solid, quality piece of furniture, but lightweight enough to handle and to live with. Myself and Yves exhibited this table at Maison et Objet Paris in September 2022. Bespoke options: This table could also be built with a smooth surface, with different dimensions, or in a range of vibrant or earthen colours. It can be built to your specifications.
