Established in 2006, Morentz has a team of approximately 55 restorers, upholsterers, interior advisers and art historians, making it a gallery, workshop and upholstery studio, all in one. Every day, a carefully selected array of 20th-century furniture arrives from all over the world at the firm’s warehouse, where the team thoroughly examines each piece to determine what, if any, work needs to be done. Whether that means new upholstery or a complete restoration, Morentz's aim is always to honor the designer’s intention while fulfilling the wishes of the client. The team is up to any challenge, from restoring a single piece to its original glory to furnishing a large-scale hotel project.

$27,800 / set - Jean Claude Dresse Coffee Table in Steel and BrassBy Jean Claude DresseLocated in Waalwijk, NLJean Claude Dresse, coffee table, brass, brushed steel, Belgium, 1970s Rectangular coffee table with striking tabletop designed by Jean Clause Dresse in the 1970s. Dresse is known for his bold designs, this table is no exception. The surface is artistically fragmented illustrating various angular shapes in etched brass and is framed in brushed steel that combines wonderfully with the darkened tone of the brass. Due to the artistic use of materials and texture combinations, the table has a strong decorative character and hits the border between piece of art and furniture design. Jean Claude Dresse (1946) is a Belgian artist and designer. He graduated from the art academy in Charleroi. His interest in the visual art is clearly visible in his furniture designs as he uses artistic techniques such as mosaic and etchings. He makes use of precious metals such as brass and copper. Together with his father he was a prominent figure in the furniture business in the 1980s and he belongs to the artistic Walloon school that focussed on glamorous esthetics. When his father died and the market was more difficult, he could not continue to make the furniture on his own so he became a visual artist. In the 1970s a trend of decorative arts arised in Brussels. Key-designers were Aldo Chale...Category

- Jean Claude Dresse Coffee Table in Steel and BrassBy Jean Claude DresseLocated in Waalwijk, NLJean Claude Dresse, coffee table, brushed stainless steel and brass, Belgium, circa 1970 An extraordinary piece, crafted with great eye for proportions and detail, typical for the work of Dresse. The combination of materials such as steel and brass, have a formal yet luxurious character that emphasizes the rich appearance. The thick tabletop is inlayed with a detailed patterned mosaic of inlayed stainless steel and brass. The use of the same stainless steel base makes the design a whole and creates an interesting lightness to the total look of the table. Jean Claude Dresse (1946) is a Belgian artist and designer. - Coffee Table in Black Resin and Marcassite by Jean Claude DresseBy Jean Claude DresseLocated in Brussels, BEJean Claude Dresse, coffee table, marcasite and steel, Belgium, 1970. This unique coffee table by Dresse was owned by a Belgian private collection from Brussels. This example is custom-made and of a spectacular size (measuring 150cm) which is exceptionally large for Dresse's pieces. Besides its size, what is is important for the quality of this table is that the piece is made by hand with an marcasite inlay from scratch. All Dresse's pieces are handmade: ''The only tools used are shears for cutting the mosaics and a polisher to finish the works'. The thick luxurious top is finished with a high gloss black edge that is accompanied by an architectural base in brushed metal. The Marcasite inlay was placed pointing towards the centre of the table, which gives it a dynamical look and great visual depth.
