Clear Acrylic 'Stooble' (Stool x End Table), Multipurpose Sub-Surface Terrarium

About the Item

'The Stooble' is cross between a stool and a side table that is both functionally and aesthetically flexible. Like the other members of our 'Bond Series', the completely transparent acrylic Stooble is defined by the trough nestled underneath its surface. The trough enables you to curate your own sub-seat terrarium, or to display your own accents, oddities, and other objects of intrigue. Its transparent nature allows the piece to house accents that compliment its surrounding environment while also creating a sense of space. This aesthetic flexibility allows the table to synergize perfectly with almost any design project. To accommodate the more practical sitter who would prefer to use the piece's surface as a seat, we added an angled acrylic panel beneath the trough to serve as a conveniently-placed footrest. The 'Bond Series' is a line of acrylic furniture that plays with both reflective geometries and acrylic's translucency in order to express and capture and express an underlying element of humor. Light travels freely through transparent acrylic panels, which both illuminate the detail and geometry of each piece’s sleek design and create a sense of space within the broader environment. In addition, each piece’s the sub-surface trough offers the perfect a locale to display complementary design accents or nurture a miniature botanical sanctuary. All pieces are handmade and made to order. We can accommodate custom requests and large orders. FEW WORDS FROM THE ARTIST: “I left on the surface of the object the imprints of my own fingers, of my hands, as well as the strikes and marks left by the actual tools used to shape the work. Later on, i took molds of my hands, fingers and of the tools that were actually used in the making of this unique piece, and duplicated them in cold cast bronze to complete the artistic statement.” For this set of works, the synthetic materials were chosen rationally in order to explain both the physical and conceptual materiality of the theme. Though, exactly the opposite for our case, the common perception of any synthetic material is usually disposable, mass-produces and low-grad. This gives birth to a discussion about the ethical value of synthetic materials and man’s ability to perceive it culturally. The story of the transformation of matter into an object, about the transformation of the object into a good, about the monetization of the good. PLASTIC CONCEPT: From the oldest of times, our species has experienced a strong symbiosis with matter. Humans have learned to model matter, turned it into tools, and then used it to create objects. The man of the 21st century has shaped the Anthropocene era to his liking; and plasticized it to his own mirror. The project called materiality, is centered around the last geological era, popularly known as the plastic age...
