Shizen Studio presents the Pietra Tables, designed by India Foster. These tables are made from reclaimed marble and recycled steel. The polished stone top is backed with cork and sits on a blackened steel frame. Every piece I make is unique. I search for rare pieces of stone that are distinctive and vibrant. Norwegian Rose is a rare pink marble sourced from the Lovgavlen quarry in Norway. These pieces were offcuts obtained from a local stone workroom. The frame is handmade by a skilled forger who shapes and blackens the metal. The stone is highly polished to reveal the beautiful character of the marble. At Shizen Studio, every consideration is made to respect the earth and her inhabitants. Designs are produced by a network of skilled artisans and makers that share a commitment to the environment, local community and quality craftsmanship. Glues are water-based and non-toxic. No VOC finishes are made from botanically derived oils and beeswax. All packing materials are reusable, biodegradable and recyclable. Each design is intended to foster a sense of connection to the natural world.
