‘Element Table-Steel, ’ a Minimalist Coffee Table by Faye Toogood

About the Item

The ‘Element Table Steel’ is a minimalistic coffee table by British design star Faye Toogood, long standing editor at World of Interiors, and renowned for her set productions for Commodes Garçons, Tom Dixon and Alexander McQueen. This table is produced in a limited edition of 8 pieces + 2 artist proofs. Pricing does not include 20% VAT applicable in the EU only. An admirer of Minimalist sculpture and British Modernists, in addition to Italian designers from the 1950s to the 1970s, Faye Toogood considers the relationships between simple forms to create objects. Since her first collection of furniture and product design in 2011, produced by British artisans, she has been successful in imposing a clearly defined visual language conveyed by sleek primary shapes and the authenticity of materials. “All my pieces start with clean, geometric shapes. They’re like building blocks. I’m not interested in creating new, futuristic silhouettes”, says Faye. The simple cube, sphere and cylinder shapes fundamental elements in her vocabulary are here elegantly combined to form a sophisticated yet simple coffee table. Sophistication, elegant simplicity, and a sense of timelessness are central, conveyed by clean primary shapes, the authenticity of the materials and the weight of the piece matching its large dimensions.

  • Ellipse Coffee Table
    By Isabelle Stanislas
    Located in Paris, FR
Isabelle Stanislas’ life is a path paved with geometry, similar to the scalene triangle with its three different sides. This geometrical mix is omnipresent in everything she does and is: in her shared Moroccan, French and Israeli roots; in her work that combines interior decoration, architecture and furniture design; and in her inspiration composed of a permanent balance between a respect for history, the audacity of modernity, and her desire to reunite all of these in the fundamentally essential. In Isabelle’s own words: “To invent is not to question everything. It means using the existing light and space and projecting them into the present. Heritage is not condemned to a life behind a window of the past. If we respect heritage, if we understand its codes and values, then we can marry it with modernity without denaturing it. After all, the past, the present and the future have always been the three sides of the same scalene”. After graduating from l’Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris with a diploma in architecture, Isabelle Stanislas was rapidly noticed for her work on various collective artistic projects, displaying an open attitude to diverse forms of creative expression. In 2003, her work for the Zadig & Voltaire boutiques demonstrated her now trademark artistic approach, founded on the rationalization of space, the incorporation of authentic historical codes and a deliberately restrained use of neutral colors. This is a philosophy that she has continued to develop, notably through her architecture agency which she founded in 2006. Influenced by the work of Tadao Ando, Renzo Piano and Louis Khan...

  • Coming to Life Coffee Table
    By Nada Debs
    Located in Paris, FR
This unique piece is part of the ‘Coming To Life’ collection designed by much-acclaimed designer in the Near and Middle East Nada Debs, renowned for cleverly distilling culture and craftsmanship in works imbued with emotional resonance. The materials Nada chooses all tell a tactile story. For her, the human hand is a voice, and the artisan a storyteller. In this table, the organic wood top retains its natural state, contrasting with the sloping, spiral legs in mother-of-pearl inlay. A perfect balance is achieved in these combinations of noble materials, natural textures and handcrafted patterns. Nada Debs grew up in Japan in a Lebanese family. She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States. Nada has spent significant periods of time living and traveling around the world...
