Medium Contemporary Steel and Oak Low Sumo Table by Vivian Carbonell
About the Item
Our warm contemporary Sumo low tables were introduced at Design Miami 2020. This design was influenced by Japanese minimalist aesthetics and very much inspired by the revered master Isamu Noguchi. The qualities of the design resemble a softened stone as well as a likeness to the strength and stance of a Sumo wrestlers low squat. The steel top has a hand applied patina creating a mottled effect of varying overlapping layers creating depth in different shades. The solid oak legs are stained in a light pink hued wash as shown.

Anna Casotti IFDM The studio was founded by and features the work of artist and designer Vivian Carbonell. Vivian develops her pieces with an artists sensibility and works alongside local craftsman. Each handcrafted collection is comprised of original and limited edition lighting, furniture and accessories inspired by an emphasis on form as well as the core elements of each material chosen.
In addition to the integration of fine art and design practices the driving force of the work is striking the perfect balance between raw and refined material qualities.
