Late 19th Century Italian Walnut and Hand-Wrought Iron Low Table

About the Item

This nice low table crafted from thick walnut and iron is Italian and made, circa 1890. The table is in the style of the Renaissance but was made to satisfy the growing late 19th century resurgence of that periods artistic flourishing and the American markets interest in old master art and Europe's past. The well-wrought iron uprights have a very good old patina and are beautifully designed. The single drawer is lined in old decorative paper. All the walnut is hand planed and most likely wood recycled from old furniture pieces. Note the notched detail carving along the upper and lower section of the apron, they are well worn and retain a rich old waxed surface.
