Mario Bellini La Rotonda Table by Cassina

About the Item

Table model La Rotonda designed by Mario Bellini in 1976. Manufactured by Cassina, Italy. A table with timeless design by Mario Bellini, who morphs the natural warmth of the material into an elegant, ageless shape, in perfect balance between aesthetic refinement and technical quality. La Rotonda’s simple sculptural base is distinguished by three square solid wood legs that intersect perpendicularly, interlocking and interpenetrating each other, to effortlessly support the slender top. La Rotonda is a table that transforms the warmth and essence of wood into beauty, featuring a simple, yet sculptural base, consisting of three square- section legs that intersect to perfection to offer a stylish support for the slim-line table top. The joins between these three elements are carved into the wood, thanks to Cassina’s extraordinary carpentry craftsmanship, where technical quality matches aesthetic refinement. The base is available in a variety of woods, with a wooden or glass top, as well as the new additions: white Carrara, black Marquiña and brown Emperador marble. La Rotonda’s simple sculptural base is distinguished by three square solid wood legs that intersect perpendicularly, interlocking and interpenetrating each other, to effortlessly support the slender top. About the manufacturer: In a continuing dialogue between past, present, and future, Cassina has created the I Maestri collection, revisiting furnishing designs by the twentieth century’s best-known architects, including Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, Franco Albini, Frank Lloyd Wright and Marco Zanuso. While the designs and functional concepts have been precisely preserved, the models have been manufactured using evolved technology. This is also the company that has manufactured iconic pieces of contemporary design from the 1950s to the present day, ideated by some of the most important international designers. Today Cassina continues to look to the future of design with audacious, passionate curiosity and an open, holistic approach. A detailed, expansive horizon of combinations; when placed together, the products have an innovative soul and the modern icons create authentic, welcoming, personal atmospheres involved in a conversation dominated by a code of design excellence, formal sensitive awareness, solidity and cultural authority.

  • Mario Bellini 'Cab' Lounge Chair, by Cassina
    By Cassina, Mario Bellini
    Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Loounge chair designed by Mario Bellini in 2015. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy. Roomy and inviting, Cab Lounge is a restatement of the Cab chair concept. Nothing short of a masterpiece of craftsmanship, the Cab Lounge armchair is perfectly suited to both residential or contract use. The leather upholstery fits the tubular steel frame like an exquisitely tailored garment, complementing the curves, in a perfect symbiosis between the structural and the organic. The eleven leather sections, hand-stitched and fitted with four zipper closures, undergo fourteen hand-executed processes before they are complete. Fitted with a reclining mechanism, the five-spoke base sets off the entire chair, while the ergonomically correct design renders it extraordinarily comfortable; the care taken in the details is without equal.
