ABOUT TECNO SPA
Tecno has blended design and innovation since its foundation in 1953, involving all stages of design, from product to interior architecture
In 1993, Norman Foster and Tecno collaborated for the Carré d'Art project in Nîmes. This cultural hub houses a contemporary art museum, a library-media centre with approximately 400,000 volumes and additional amenities including a cinema at the semi-basement level. Constructed with glass, steel and concrete, the building stands opposite the Maison Carrée temple, a Roman structure from the 1st century BC. Embracing the temple's seriality, Foster's design features a portico and employs straight lines, harmonising with the classical facade.
Norman Foster, together with Tecno, designed the furnishings for the library and offices, giving rise to the Tabula furniture series. This collection includes versatile tables and desks equipped with various accessories, alongside a unique waiting bench. The Carré d'Art collaboration epitomises the enduring synergy between Norman Foster's visionary design ethos and Tecno's commitment to innovation and functionality.
The alliance between Norman Foster and Tecno has endured to this day, now through the Norman Foster Foundation. The 'Cosmos' furniture system will debut at the Milano Design Week 2024, reaffirming our commitment to excellence in design.
