About the Item

Midcentury serving tray in engraved mirror and Murano glass with gilded handles. Ongaro e Fuga designed this excellent piece in Italy, Murano island, during the 1950s. This fantastic item comes with the original label. This remarkable object is a particular vintage Venetian tray with a mirror base and golden metal handles. It has a fantastic crisscross rope frame. The mirror has romantic Venetian characters and a picturesque countryside landscape. Due to its decoration and materials, this fantastic item is ideal for a midcentury living room or neoclassical entrance hall. Measures (cms): Width 33 Depth 27 Height 4.5 Ongaro e Fuga was established in 1954 by Franco Fuga and his wife Tullia Ongaro, but our art dates back centuries, and today she can perpetuate the magic and wonder of Venetian mirrors. Just like their name comes from the encounter between the pride of the Hungarian mountains and the freshness of the waters and the colours of Murano, their mirrors combine the solidity of the finest materials and craftsmanship precision with the lightness of art. Protagonists of the Murano Glass Story since the Nineteenth Century From 1852 the Fuga name will be forever associated with the mirrors and that is the same year in which the artist and craftsman Angelo Fuga started to engrave glass and create the first Venetian mirror. In 1862 the director of the Museo Civico Artistico Industriale of Murano, commissioned him to make an engraved mirror of 2.5 metres high and1.70 metres wide. It was recognized as one of the most majestic engraved mirrors of all time. The mirrors of Angelo Fuga travelled around the world as have the mirrors of Ongaro and Fuga since 1954. This ancient story is the story of the fascinating art of the mirror that we know today.
