Ponte Tray Large in Walnut Handcrafted in Portugal by Origin Made

About the Item

These wooden trays in maple or walnut are all about joinery details. The design carries a Portuguese signature, as well as Scandinavian and Japanese influences. Ponte means bridge in Portuguese – a set of trays that support, highlight and transport the things we love. The smallest tray is ideal for a cup of tea or displaying small objects, while the medium and large sizes can carry your meal to your favorite places. Material: Walnut and Maple As a handcrafted product, each piece is unique. Natural qualities of wood could result in variations in color tone, wood grain and the presence of knots. Observations of such differences across products or orders does not constitute a basis for order cancellation or product returns. Designed by Nuno Grade, made by Carlos Barbosa. The Craftsman Carlos Barbosa and his two sons run a wood working factory in Paços de Ferreira. They produce high quality objects and furniture for both local architects and international clients. The unique thing about them is they stock a very large variety of Portuguese and imported hardwoods, and combine the best of hand and machine processes to make high quality products, in small to medium sized production runs. The Designer Nuno Grade was born in Lisbon, in 1972. He studied graphic design at the António Arroio Applied Arts school, from which he graduated, in two different moments, in communication design and then in product design, starting early his professional career amongst various design studios. His first major breakthrough was as a member of the editorial design team of O Independente, a groundbreaking and politically relevant weekly newspaper in Portugal. While working there for a few years, he was invited by Condé Nast to become the art director of the Portuguese version of GQ, then about to be launched. Despite his grounded career within graphic design, Nuno Grade never gave up his product design dreams so in 2002 he left GQ and opened a store in Lisbon, Nord, specialized in Scandinavian design. With his art direction experience, he has been continuously working as a product and interior designer, conveyed through his services at Nord. Care Instructions: Use a dry soft cloth Do not use household cleaners.

  • Adão Coat Peg Large in Chestnut Wood Handcrafted in Portugal by Origin Made
    By Pauline Deltour
    Located in Porto, 13
The Adão Coat Peg is hand turned from Portuguese chestnut wood by master wood turner Carlos Barbosa. In the true spirit of Origin, the coat peg is named after the craftsman who first made it, Adão Gomes. Designed by Pauline Deltour to be significant in size, the object has distinct concave faces to bring out a sculptural presence. Adão coat peg is available in two sizes, and finished with a natural wax coating. Material: Chestnut Wood As a handcrafted product, each piece is unique. Natural qualities of wood could result in variations in color tone, wood grain and the presence of medullary rays or knots. Observations of such differences across products or orders does not constitute a basis for order cancellation or product returns. Designed by Pauline Deltour, made by Carlos Barbosa. The Designer Pauline Deltour was born in 1983, in Landerneau, France. She graduated from les Arts Décoratifs in 2007 and has worked for 4 years for Konstantin Grcic in Munich, Germany. She has opened her very own studio in Paris in 2010. Distinguished by being both severe and delicate, its designs reflect a vocabulary which is characteristic of her own personality. Her precise hand, neat lines, carefully selected materials and colour ranges, and the way in which they come together, form the individual identity of this young French designer’s work. Emblematic, hard-hitting seduction is achieved through rare qualities which are as elemental to the design as they are challenging to implement. An iron fist in a velvet glove...

Jean and Dylan of Ladies & Gentlemen Studio were captivated by the array of textures and colours on display at João Lourenço's ceramic workshop and immediately began to consider new ways in which they could celebrate the richness of João's craft. Fascinated by the gradation of colours that reveal themselves when Metallic salts are added to a clay firing, they asked João if this effect could be applied to Pasta Grés Chamotada - a highly textured claybody. The result of this experiment is Salt Vase...
