Jim Dine Signed Aquatint Etching Print With Hand Coloring of Mysterious Man

About the Item

A beautiful aquatint etching print by famed American artist Jim Dine (1935- ). The image is printed on wove paper with hand coloring and featured a fabulously and somewhat flamboyantly dressed mysterious shadowed male of female figure with hidden eyes. Provenance: Property from the collection of Mitchell Friedman, master printer (and close friend) for Jim Dine. The work is pencil-signed (informally "JD") and dated 2000 by Dine in pencil along lower margin with a personalized inscription to Mr. Friedman "To my dearest Mitchell - with thanks- as always-" As we can not find another copy of this image we believe it may be the only existing copy - a 1 of 1 - making it clearly quite rare. A perfect gift to the man Dine trusted to help illuminate and help create his images. Along with such revered artists like Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Robert Dowd, Phillip Hefferton, Joe Goode, Edward Ruscha, and Wayne Thiebaud, Jim Dine was instrumental in the birth of the Pop Art movement. Collections and Museums containing Jim Dine's work are both vast and numerous. Some include: The British Museum, London The Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C. The Honolulu Museum of Art The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York The Museum of Modern Art, New York The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, California The Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York The Tate Modern, London The Walker Art Center, Minneapolis The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, Virginia The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, Arkansas.
