About

This bold and graphic Richard Serra etching is part of the artist's Videy Afangar Series, executed in 1990 and 1991. It was inspired by an installation of 18 basalt columns, arranged in pairs, that Serra realized a year before on the island of Viðey, off the coast of Reykjavik. The etching, in the words of the artist, seeks to "distill" the sculptural work into another language." Its austere and architectonic black form is bold enough to catch the attention and admiration of any fine art enthusiast, and neutral enough to blend in with virtually any style of decor. It is signed, numbered and dated bottom right '62/75 XRM 91'. It has been printed on archival paper with acid free matting and mounted under glass in a matte black frame. Excellent condition.

American, 1991
