Robert Motherwell Signed Limited Edition Large Aquatint Etching Blackened Sun

About the Item

A breathtaking, large in scope and scale, rivetting work by American abstract expressionist painter, and master printmaker Robert Motherwell (1915-1991). This aquatint/lift ground etching, done in 1984, is titled "Blackened Sun" (E./B. 343). The work is printed on German Etching paper and is hand pencil signed and numbered (21/30) by Motherwell in the lower right margin. A copy can be found in the Walker Art Center. The work has been professionally matted and heavily framed under plexiglass. Framed dimensions: 48.5" high, 38.5" wide, .75" deep. Viewable image approximately 35" high x 23.5" wide. Would be an amazing addition to any modern art collection or eye-catching stand-alone work in about any setting. Rare and special. A must for Motherwell collectors. Robert Motherwell was one of the youngest of the New York School, which also included Philip Guston, Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, and Mark Rothko. He is widely considered by many to have been the greatest abstract Expressionist painter of the 20th Century. His works can be found in many prominent collections and museums worldwide.
