19th Century North African Calligraphy Leaves, Set of Five, Double Sided

About the Item

Five leaves from a North African manuscript, probably on law or religion, 19th century. These are really cool, even the damaged edging adds something, making them unique abstract works of art. The exuberance and bright colors of the calligraphy are highlighted by the ragged borders. These will be wonderful framed. Nice size, approximately 14 by 10 inches each.

  • King Edward VII Authentic Strand of Hair, 19th Century / 20th Century
    Located in Jersey, GB
Edward VII’s coronation took place in 1901, following the death of his mother Queen Victoria. He was 59 at the time and his reign was short, ending with his death in 1910. This brief period is known as the Edwardian era. This was a time when society underwent a dramatic change, with women and workers agitating for greater self-determination. It was also the end of the great European golden age known as the Belle Époque. The First World War (1914-1918) would drag the continent screaming into the 20th century. This authentic half inch strand of hair is from the head of King Edward VII (it was likely taken when he was the Prince of Wales). A marvellous curio that fits beautifully into any collection of royal memorabilia...
