About the Item
A superb antique French provincial Malicorne faience wall pocket vase from Pouplard-Beatrix, circa 1890. Signed PBx on reverse. This charming wall vase is in the shape of a hat and depicts a young Breton woman seated with a basket and umbrella. It is hand painted with floral designs and a cobalt blue decorated border. Malicorne pottery was produced in the village of Malicorne-sur-Sarthe, France, a short distance from Quimper.
