Burmantofts Faience "Aesthetic Movement" Plaque 19th c.

About the Item

This extremely large Faience pottery plaque is the epitome of the "Aesthetic Movement" style at it's best! Thick impasto enamels create a 3-dimensional effect of flowers rising out of the shaded brown background. The "Japonesque" full moon reserve is hand painted with a reflective lake scene adding to the intrigue of the decoration. This is a heavy piece as is shown in image 8, designed to support the weight and hang perfectly.
