"Comedia" Textile by Stig Lindberg

About

"Comedia", an extremely rare handmade silkscreen-printed linen textile, was designed in the late 1950s by Stig Lindberg for the prestigious Swedish NK department store. Lindberg's distinctively playful, neo-medieval style is familiar from his contemporaneous and much-loved "Karneval" series of faience ceramics, also produced with silkscreen printing in order to give an archaic woodcut-print effect. Some of Stig Lindberg's famous textile designs have been reissued in Sweden, but not "Comedia". This large 76" x 51" section is in fine condition, and thus a great opportunity for a collector (these textiles look fantastic when matted and framed), or someone looking to reupholster a piece (or pieces) of furniture with a very distinctive linen fabric. Signed on selvage: [HAND PRINTED "COMEDIA" Stig Lindberg DESIGN NK's TEXTILKAMMARE MADE IN SWEDEN].
