Japanese Antique Wabi-Sabi Door " Wall Decoration " 1860s-1900s

About the Item

This account consists of five companies. As for me, I specialize in Japanese antiques and deal in carefully selected items. With my 20 years of experience, I re-propose Japanese antiques from a new perspective. This is a large sliding door used in an old Japanese warehouse. It was made in the Meiji era. (1860s-1900s). It is mainly made of cedar wood and the handle is made of iron. At the time it was covered with plaster and soil, but over the years it has deteriorated and the plaster has peeled away, exposing the base. The faint traces of plaster, the texture of the soil, and the underlying cedar wood blend harmoniously to create a beautiful landscape, almost like an abstract painting. Weighing only about 20 kg, it is recommended to be used as an art piece and wall decoration. This door evokes the spirit of wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence. It is a modest and humble beauty, the beauty of the unconventional, the opposite of vulgarity. This is a unique and very rare item. Since ancient times, people have created and passed down necessary tools from familiar materials to survive in the severe struggle against nature, and have nurtured a lifestyle culture. By using these objects over a long period of time, they accumulate a flavor and reflect a way of life. In today's world, where cheap and disposable items are encouraged, the act of repeatedly re-creating things around us by modifying them opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we collect beautiful, powerful, and unique carefully selected antiquities from Japan.
