Japanese Antique Wabi-Sabi Wooden Board 1860s-1900s / Abstract Art

About the Item

This is a very old Japanese wooden workboard. It was made during the Meiji period (1860s-1900s). It is made of cedar wood. Countless cuts are piled up, giving it a beautiful appearance like an abstract painting. Please hang it on the wall and enjoy it like a painting. It is also recommended as a display stand. It is a versatile item that can be used in various ways. This item evokes the spirit of “Wabi-sabi,” a Japanese philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty that is modest and humble, unconventional and the opposite of vulgar. A unique and extremely rare item. It weighs 9 kg. Since ancient times, people have created and inherited necessary tools from familiar materials to survive in the severe struggle against nature, and have nurtured a lifestyle culture. As they are used over time, they accumulate flavor and reflect a way of life. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly modifying and re-creating the things around us opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we carefully select and collect Japanese antiques that are beautiful, powerful, and unique.
