Large Signed Samara Galeries Lafayette Art Deco Ceramic Plate Bathing Nude 1920s

About the Item

Large amazing Art Deco plate showing a bathing black haired nude in an elegant and typical Art Deco pose. The hand-crafted art ceramic or pottery plate which is made for wall hanging too, has a black rim and frame on a faint ivory color crackled and matted glaze, the center partly high gloss and matt gloss in colors royal blue, olive, ocean blue, grey blue, mud and earthy colors. The large probably unique plate was created by Samara for the famed Montieres pottery near Amiens, France 1920 to 1930s. On reverse it is signed "La Maitrise" edite par Samara and bears additionally the Galeries Lafayette Paris France decal paper label with vendor and date. The art bowl / plate which is 42 cm / 16.54 inches wide and 4,3 cm / 1.69 inches deep has few irregularities in the surface which is the result of hand-crafted production, see detailed pictures, otherwise in very good original vintage condition, minor wear consistent with age and use. A large unique Art Deco statement piece.
